Electric current simply means the transfer of energy or charged ions for us to get electricity. The electricity we get is some source of power mainly used in electrical appliances on our daily life and they are divided into two different flowing types in the current. First is alternative current (AC) that we can easily obtain from residential and business areas as the wall power and it is called alternative because it changes the polarity periodically. Direct current (DC) is the other type of current which gives direct power with unchanging polarity and can be found in batteries.

To know better about the usage of these two currents, I'll give a brief explanation by showing how gear motors work. Let's start with the easier ones, the dc gear motors works when voltage forces through the coil and produce another force called brushes. When a brush happens it means the magnetic force acts perpendicular to both the magnetic field and wire, making a lift or torque that is able to turn the coil. In direct current, brushes only happens each half a turn and the other half depends on rotational kinetic energy in order to complete the full turn.

In ac gear motors, the coil turn with torque in every degree because of its alternating current that produce brushes all the time. This occurs when the magnetic field is also powered with the same source, generating a rotational magnetic field around the coil.
